95382: Donald Maciver

Domhnall Mhurchaidh Mhóir

Donald (1796-1875) was the son of Murdo Maciver and Isabella Macleod.  His mother died and his father married Christina Beaton. The first of his six half-siblings was born in 1809. It is possible that he had already left home by this time. His father cannot be placed in Old South Tolsta Tack until 1820, so it is not certain Donald ever lived there either.

In 1822 Donald married Catherine Chisholm of Holm, and the couple settled at 3 East Street, Sandwick.

Donald was widowed in 1874.

Sometime later his half-brother, Alexander also settled at 3 East Street Sandwick. It is not clear if he inherited the croft from Donald or if he settled there as a cottar.
