107608: North Uist Historical Society archive

Comann Eachdraidh Uibhist a Tuath (CEUT) has built up an extensive archive of artefacts, photographs and sound recordings. The material dates mainly to the 19th and 20th centuries.

The primary collection of particular note held by CEUT comprises over 1000 artefacts illustrating the social domestic, economic, cultural and religious life of North Uist. CEUT also owns and part-operates the historic Grimsay-built boat, Morning Star. 

CEUT holds a wide-ranging photographic collection of over 3500 prints and transparencies, mainly copies of the originals. There is an Archive and Research room in Taigh Chearsabhagh where the majority of the photographs are held in albums that are available for the public to browse through at their leisure.
