William, (1827-1911), was a son of John Smith and Catherine Nicolson, 5 Achmore and formerly 5 Old Achmore. Following the death of William’s mother the croft at 5 Achmore was split between William (5a) and his nephew John (5b). William married Mary Smith from 28 Leurbost. The couple settled at 5a Achmore and had eight children.
