Alexander (1831-1896) was a son of John Mackenzie and Christina Macleod, 10 Old Lemreway.
The village was cleared in 1843 and the family were moved to 3 Crossbost.
In Lochs, in 1853, he married Catherine Mackenzie, 2 Leurbost. Alexander and Catherine settled at 2 Leurbost and they had 11 children.
