111278: Norman Martin

Norman was the son of Norman Martin and “Cree Lady”. The couple were in Canada at the time of his birth.

In 1846 Norman’s parents returned to Tolsta and settled at 33 Old South Tolsta with Norman’s paternal grandparents.

The family were only in Tolsta a few years before Norman’s father was drowned off Cape Wrath.

The following Spring Norman’s mother returned, with him, to Canada. Norman’s grandmother initially hid her grandson, at a shieling on Muirneag for three days, to prevent him being taken away.

Norman became a factor at the Hudson Bay Company.

After he retired he returned to Tolsta for a visit, but died on the way home and was buried in Liverpool.
