Donald (born 1837) was a son of Donald Mackenzie and Mary Mackinnon, 66 Balallan. In 1860 the family moved to 7 Garyvard. His mother died in 1872 and the family moved to 52 Keith Street, Stornoway. Donald remained at 7 Garyvard as he was a Merchant there.
At Stornoway, in 1873, he married Catherine Maclennan, 28 Gravir. The couple settled at 7 Garyvard where they had two of their five children.
The family moved to Knockiandue, Keose in 1882 and were still there in 1891. They later moved to Stornoway.
