Donald (1816-1899) was a son of John Macphail and Christina Maclean, 9 Old Gravir.
In Lochs, in 1841, he married Christina Nicolson, 5 Old Gravir. Donald and Christina were Cottars at 9 Old Gravir where they had nine of their eleven children. In the 1852 Lotting the family obtained 19 Gravir.
