Catherine MacKillop was born in 1865. Also known as Catherine MacInnes or Kate, she lived at Baile with her mother and uncle, and later at Ludag with her mother Catherine, and, like her, became a dressmaker.

Kate married in Tarbert, to Donald MacLeod from Lamerick, with whom she was to have two sons. Donald was a seaman and emigrated to Canada during the 1890s. Kate stayed at Ludag with the two boys, a few years later following her husband to Canada.
