90962: John Macdonald

John (1838-1871) was a son of Norman Macdonald and Ann Campbell. The family probably lived with relatives either at 18 Old South Tolsta or as cottars in Old South Tolsta.

In the 1851 croft relottings John’s parents probably moved to 19 North Tolsta with his maternal grandparents; at some point 19 North Tolsta passed to John’s father.

John was the first husband of Isabella Macleod of 4 North Tolsta; the couple settled at 19 North Tolsta and had their two children there.

John died in 1871.

After his death his widow remarried, but stayed at 19 North Tolsta. In 1882 John’s mother died and his widow’s second husband inherited John’s share of the croft: 19c North Tolsta.
