91639: John Macdonald
John (1849-1941) was the son of Murdo Macdonald and Annie Murray of 1 Old North Tolsta. In the 1851 croft relottings the family obtained 51 North Tolsta.
John married Marion Mackay of 16 North Tolsta. Initially the couple settled with John’s parents at 51 North Tolsta, and they had at least two of their children there. They eventually moved to Marion’s parents croft, at 16 North Tolsta, as cottars.
They had seven children in total.
John was a stocky bearded man and a skipper of the Admiral.
Their son Donald and his wife Ann settled with them, and had five children, prior to obtaining 6 New Tolsta. John and Marion went with their son and his family to 6 New Tolsta. The cottars house at 16 North Tolsta passed to Angus Mackay.
