91707: Mary Murray
Mary (1831-1897) was the daughter of Angus Murray and Catherine Maciver of 9 Old North Tolsta.
Mary’s father died, while rock-fishing, in 1853 and her family left Tolsta the following year, moving to 52 Swainbost, which was later renumbered as 33 Cross. It is not clear if Mary ever lived there with them.
Mary married Murdo Maciver of 20 Old North Tolsta and the couple obtained 17 North Tolsta as a newly split croft around 1853. They had seven children: three girls and four boys.
Mary was widowed in August 1881, when Murdo drowned while fishing off Wick.
