91896: Kenneth Martin
Kenneth (1863-1942) was the son of Duncan Martin and Catherine Nicolson. The family were cottars at 21 North Tolsta.
In 1864 Kenneth’s paternal grandmother died and 21 North Tolsta was split between his father and his Aunt Mary. The family obtained 21a North Tolsta at this time.
Kenneth married Mary Thomson of 52 Coll in Peterhead in 1889 and the couple settled at 21a North Tolsta as cottars. They had eight children: five boys and three girls.
At some point Kenneth became a shepherd for, Gress Farm, in Glen Tolsta, and though he inherited the house that went with the job the family never lived there. In some records they are said to have lived at Hill Street.
In 1922, when the Gress Farm was broken, up the family moved to 8 North Street, Sandwick.
