92009: Donald Gunn

Donald (1830-1913) was the son of John Gunn and Anne Martin; the family moved from Old South Tolsta Tack to 10 Old North Tolsta the year of his birth, so it is not certain where he was born.

In 1853, when Old North Tolsta was decrofted to make way for Tolsta Farm, the family moved to 43 North Tolsta which had been the croft of his maternal grandparents. 

Donald emigrated and worked for the Hudson’s Bay Company, in Canada or Talamh Fuar. 

Donald married Christina Maciver, of 23 North Tolsta, and the couple obtained 70 North Tolsta, as a newly lotted croft, in 1871. The couple had no children.

Both Donald and his wife died in 1913, and 70 North Tolsta passed to Donald’s nephew, William.
