29209: Free Church of Scotland, Crossbost
The successor to the Rev Finlayson (1843-1856) was the Rev John Macrae (1857-1864) when at the age of 70 years, he accepted a call to the less demanding charge of Carloway. His place in the Crossbost pulpit was taken by the Rev GL Campbell (1865-1875) until he was translated to the charge of Argyll Church, Glasgow. The next Free Church incumbent, Rev Hector Cameron (1876-1881) was born in 1836 in Guiseachan, by Lochshiel, the son of Donald Cameron a sheep farmer. He studied at the University and the Free Church College in Glasgow and arrived at Lochs in 1876.
In 1882, the Kinloch area of the parish was erected into a regular Free Church Ministerial charge.
