48 Tolastadh bho Thuath

48 North Tolsta was officially incorporated into the croft numbering system in 1854, but it was occupied from 1851. The first occupants were Donald Mackenzie, Margaret Macdonald and their seven children: Ann, Donald, Mary, Margaret, Catherine, Norman and Christina. The couple's youngest son, Norman became a cottar at 48 North Tolsta, but, in due course, 48 North Tolsta passed to their son-in-law, Donald Macdonald.

Donald Macdonald married Christina Mackenzie and the couple had eight children: John, William, Murdo, Margaret, Annie, Annie, Murdo and Murdo. Their son, Murdo became a cottar at 48 North Tolsta. In due course 48 North Tolsta passed to their son, William.

William Macdonald married Margaret Nicolson and the couple has eight children: Murdo, Annie, Catherine, Donald, John, Murdo, Christina and Alexander. In due course 48 North Tolsta passed to their sixth child, Murdo.

Murdo never married.

Cottars

Norman Mackenzie married Margaret Maciver and the couple had seven children: Angus, Mary, John, Margaret, Annie, Ann and Christina Mary. The cottars house was not passed on to any of the children. 

Murdo Macdonald married Christina Maciver and the couple had four children: Christina, Donald, Donald Murdo and Kenneth Murdo. In due course the house passed to their eldest son, Donald.

Donald married a woman from Indonesia but the couple had no children. After Donald's death his widow moved to Stornoway and the house was sold.

The house was bought by a couple from Scalpay and then sold to a couple from Campbeltown. Then it was sold a further three times to families from England.
