103985: The Shieling, North Tolsta

John Maciver and Isabella Macinnes were the first occupants of The Shieling, North Tolsta. The couple had three children: Mary, Joan and Colin. In 1922 Mary died in childhood and in 1925 John was widowed. By 1927 he had married Christina Mackay and they had had the first of their eleven children: seven girls and four boys.

At some point, after 1946, the family obtained 2 School Road, North Tolsta from his wife's family. The Shieling was then sold to Kenneth Martin of Harris.

Kenneth Martin was married to Christina Campbell and they had no children. In due course the house was sold to Colin Smith.

Colin Smith lived at The Shieling with his brother Murdo. Neither of the brothers married or had children. In due course the house was sold to a man from Skye.
