Sunnybrae, North Tolsta was partly built by Angus Mackay. He was married to Christina Mary Mackenzie and the couple had their first two children, Gormelia and John, before moving to the cottars house at 16 North Tolsta, in 1923. Sunnybrae passed to John Campbell.

John Campbell was married to Jessie Campbell and the couple had a son, John Murdo. The family had previously been living at 13b North Tolsta. Once at Sunnybrae the couple had a further four children: Mary, Dolina, Donald and Isabella.

Murdo Macleod was the next owner of Sunnybrae he lived here with his second wife, Morag Macleod and their two children.

The house passed to Annie Matheson and her husband; the couple had three children.
