104234: 12 Old North Tolsta

12 Old North Tolsta was a newly lotted croft in 1830 and the first occupant was Alexander Smith and his son, Neil. The croft quickly passed to Neil.

Neil Smith was married to Christina Campbell and the couple already had two children:  Alexander and Donald, by the time they obtained 12 North Tolsta. In 1832 the family exchanged crofts with Donald Mackenzie of 9 Old South Tolsta.

Donald Mackenzie was married to Margaret Macdonald and the couple already had a daughter, Ann before they obtained 12 Old North Tolsta. Once settled the couple had a further six children: Donald, Mary, Margaret, Catherine, Norman and Christina. In 1853, when Old North Tolsta was cleared to make way for Tolsta Farm, the family obtained 48 North Tolsta.
