5a Glen Tolsta was created in 1858 for Norman Macinnes, Catherine Morrison and their children: Jessie, John, Angus,C atherine, Peggy, Rachel, Mary, Anne and Christina. The family had been cottars in Glen Tolsta since losing 5 Glen Tolsta in 1853. The couple had two further children whilst at 5a Glen Tolsta: Marion and Marion.

In 1869 the family lost the croft and the land reverted back to common grazing.
