Donald Macleod (born 1815)  Dòmhnall Mhurchaidh was in Kershader at the time of the 1861 census and as far as can be ascertained, it is felt that he resided at or near croft no 7 Kershader before the family emigrated to America, probably in the 1860's.

The next tenant was Murdo Macdonald (1836-1897) Murchadh Iain from 4 Habost. He passed 7 Kershader to his step-daughter, Annabella Kennedy (1857-1947) Barabal Choinnich Dhòmhnaill until they moved to Stornoway.

7 Kershader was then passed to Murdo's nephew Donald Macdonald (1836-1897), Domhnuill Iain Ruaidh from 4 Habost and he passed the croft to his son, Finlay Macdonald (1900-1981)
