In 1851 she married Duncan Mackay, 3 Achmore. Janet and Duncan settled at 3 Achmore and they had eight children. Duncan's father died in 1872 and the croft was split giving Duncan 3a Achmore and Neil 3b.
Janet was widowed in 1899.
