Mairi Mhurchaidh Dhonnchaidh

Mary (1902-2000) was a daughter of Murdo Buchanan and Margaret Morrison, 6 Brenish. She moved with her family to 1 Carnish in the early 1920s.

On the 21 October 1922, giving her last address in the UK as Harlaw Street, Glasgow, Mary sailed from Glasgow on the SS Cameronia, bound for New York. It arrived in New York on the 29 October 1922, where Mary gave her nearest relative  in the UK as her father, Murdo Buchanan, I Carnish. She gave her final destination as Santa Barbara, California.

In 1927, Mary married Colin Archibald Ross Sutherland, Hamilton, Lanarkshire in the Bible Institute, Los Angeles and they had one son, Neil John. In the 1930 Census, they were all living in Gardena, Los Angeles. On the 2 September 1931 Mary crossed the border into Canada with her son via the Pacific Highway.

Mary is interred with Colin in Fraser Cemetery, New Westminster, British Columbia.
