Rhoda was a daughter of Donald Mackenzie and Catherine Macdonald, 32 Crossbost. Rhoda worked as a nurse in Bragar.

At Inverness, in 1947, she married Kenneth John Nicolson from 32 Gravir who became a Free Church minister. Rhoda and Kenneth John lived at Sutherland, Portree and Barvas.

In retirement the couple settled at 18 Crossbost.
