John (1835-1898) was a son of John Munro and Marion Mackay, 2 Old Eishken. That year the family moved to his uncle Duncan's croft at 2 Habost.
In 1842 they moved to 2 Old Leurbost then obtained Croft 22 Leurbost. In 1856 to they moved to 1 Newmarket.
At Stornoway, in 1862, John married Christina Mackay, 5, Newmarket and formerly of Uig. John and Christina settled at 5 Newmarket.
John was widowed in 1874 and in 1876, he married Ann Macleod, 2 Newmarket in Stornoway.
