Roderick (1868-1946) was a son of Donald Mackenzie and Christy Mackenzie, 32 Crossbost. He had an elder brother with the same name.
He was educated in Glasgow and became a Free Church minister serving in Back Free Church from 1910 to 1946.
Roderick married Ann Macleod from 16 Coll. The couple settled in the Free Church Manse, Back and they had six children.
Roderick was widowed and married another Ann Macleod. She was the widow of Alexander Munro from 25 Coll. Roderick and Ann settled at the Free Church Manse, Back. They had no children together, but Roderick was step-father to Ann's son, Angus.
Roderick owned a house named 'Repose' on a feu at 32 Crossbost.
