Donald John  (born 1900) was a son of Murdo Macleod and Chirsty Mckenzie, 11 Habost.

He enrolled in the Royal Naval Reserve, Service Number DA21013, on July 30, 1918. His record indicated that he was 5ft 9in with light blue eyes and a pale complexion.  Donald John  was immediately Mobilised and served in the Royal Navy in the First World War until February 1919. Based at HMS Pembroke and HMS Attentive. His name is mentioned in Loyal Lewis: Roll of Honour 1914-1918.

In 1921 he moved to 33 Phoenix Park Terrace, Glasgow and by 1923 he was living at 131 Earlston Avenue Glasgow. Donald John married Mary Ann Morrison, 20 Woodside Place, Glasgow at Glasgow, in 1923. The couple lived in Glasgow and they had at least four children.

 Donald John was a Detective Inspector in Glasgow Police.
