Donald (1813-1894) was the son of John Nicolson and Catherine Campbell, 1 Coll. His mother died and his father later married Margaret Macleod, 6 Lower Sandwick.

He married Mary Macdonald of Carloway. Donald and Mary lived at 1 Coll and they had five children.

Donald was widowed in 1862 and later married, widow, Mrs Margaret Murray nee Murray of 18/19 Back. Donald and Margaret had two children. He was widowed in 1893.
