Neil Aonghais Iain
Neil (1824-1897) was the son of Angus Macdonald and Ann Maclean of Melbost, Lewis. In 1831 the family obtained 7 Gearraidh Ghuirmm which only existed for about a decade before it was cleared. In 1839, the family obtained 36 Old Coll and later moved to 25 Coll.
In 1851 Neil married Jane Beaton of 15 Vatisker. The couple settled at 15 Vatisker and they had eight children. The croft at 15 Vatisker was passed to Neil.
Neil worked as a fisherman and crofter and died of Influenza aged 73.
