Catherine  (born 1920) was a daughter of John Maclean and Matilda Mackenzie, Glasgow. Her father was a Police Officer in the City of Glasgow Police and the Metropolitan Police, London. The family lived in London and later settled in Dumbarton.

In 1921 Catherine, her mother and sister, Annie were living with her Aunt Flora at 4 Calbost.
