John (c1720-c1775) was a son of Donald Macleod and Christina Macaulay, Eishken, Lochs. He was a wealthy owner of a plantation in St Dorothy, Jamaica.
In 1762 he married widow, Mrs Janet Mackinnon nee Macleod from the Isle of Raasay. John was widowed in 1773.
At Edinburgh, in 1773, he married Margaret Macleod, Kilmadoch, Perthshire.
Two years later John died at Colbeck, St Dorothy.
