17827: Donald Beaton

Donald (1832-1911) was the son of John Beaton and Ann Macaulay of Tobson, Lewis.
In the 1850's the family emigrated to Canada and settled in Quebec. They farmed two miles east of Milan on the road to Marsboro. He was active in community life a JP, councillor, Mayor of Marsboro and also on the school commission.
He married Mary Macdonald, Winslow and formerly of 44 North Shawbost. Donald and Mary lived at Marsboro and they had ten children.
He and his wife Mary are buried at Marboro Mills cemetery.
