Hector Murdo (1893-1965) was a son of Kenneth Macleod and Margaret Macdonald, 14 Cromore.

Hector served as a Bosun with the Merchant Navy during the Second World War. He served on MV Longwood, MV British Vigilance, MV Empire Metal, MV Empire Macandrew, MV Empire Waterhen, He survived when his ship was bombed in 1943 and his name is included in Roll of Honour: Pairc Second World War.
At Stornoway, in 1948, Hector married Margaret Morrison, 9 Calbost. The couple settled in Stornoway.
