Jane Macdonald Dempster (1908-1983) was a daughter of Robert Dempster and Mary Ann Macraild, Kinloch Rannoch. The family moved to the Isle of Lewis and initially lived at the Gamekeeper's House at Valmus. They later settled at the Seaforth Head Schoolhouse.
At Stornoway, in 1931, she married John Mackenzie, 49 Balallan. Jane and John settled at 49 Balallan and they had seven children.
