Catherine (c1797-1881) was a daughter of Norman Matheson and Christina (Surname Unknown), 2 Old Crowlista, Uig. The family emigrated to Canada in the 1830s and settled at Little Narrows, Cape Breton.

She married  her first cousin, Malcolm Matheson, another emigrant from Crowlista. Catherine and Malcolm settled in Little Narrows and they had eight children.

Catherine was widowed in 1874.
