70169: Roderick MacLeod

Roderick, born in 1863, was the son of Duncan MacLeod and his second wife Catherine Paterson of 16 Ruisgarry (Brusda). Roderick became a fisherman, particularly of lobsters, working from his boat, the Guide. In 1895 he married Christina MacAskill, with whom he was to have seven children.

In 1900 Roderick obtained 3 Borve, but exchanged it for 17 Ruisgarry (Brusda) with Malcolm Morrison. His new home was used as a bearing point for local boats, and as a result a group of sunken searocks, Bodhanan a’ Chùbair, were named for him.

Following his death in 1929, the croft was passed to son Angus.
