Mary MacLeod was born in about 1825, the daughter of Allan Bàn MacLeod and Rebecca MacLeod of Sheabie. Mary married John MacLeod, with whom she was to have four children. The family lived at Baile, later moving to Lamerick. Following her husband’s death in 1892, Mary earned her living as a general worker.
