90776: William Macdonald
William (1892-1964) was the son of Murdo Macdonald and Henrietta Finlayson of 51 North Tolsta.
William served with the Royal Naval Reserves during World War One. He became a prisoner of war in Holland. More information about Tolsta men interned in Holland can be found at the North Tolsta Historical Society website.
William married Henrietta Macdonald, of 1 North Tolsta, and the couple settled as cottars at 51 North Tolsta. They had eight children: six girls and two boys.
In 1922 their first child, Mary, died in early childhood.
In 1937 William was widowed.
In due course the house passed to their grandson.
