90963: Murdo Maciver
Murdo (1840-1912) was the son of Angus Maciver and Margaret Murray; the family were cottars at 22 Old South Tolsta.
In the 1851 croft relottings the family obtained 33 North Tolsta and settled there.
Murdo’s first wife was Christina Macdonald of 38 North Tolsta. The address at which they spent their married life is not known, but they had one child there. Murdo was widowed in 1872.
Murdo’s second marriage was to widow Isabella Macleod. Isabella was a cottar, at 19 North Tolsta, which was Ann Campbell’s croft: Isabella’s first husband’s mother. Murdo settled there with her; the couple had three children there.
In 1882, upon the death of Ann Campbell, 19 North Tolsta was split and Murdo inherited 19c North Tolsta. The couple had a further two children at 19c North Tolsta.
