26099: 8 Doune Carloway

The first tenant of this croft was John Macdonald from Hacklete, Bernera. His son Donald inherited the croft and when Doune was cleared in 1853, Donald moved to 10 Kneep. After resettlement in 1872, the croft was tenanted by Malcolm Macdonald from Mangersta and his family. His son Malcolm (b1838-) inherited the croft, followed by his son Murdo (b1880) and then Murdo’s son John, the current tenant.
