56 Tolastadh bho Thuath

56 North Tolsta was a newly lotted croft in 1857 and the first tenant was Kenneth Maciver. In 1874 the family moved to 36 North Tolsta. Kenneth's son, Murdo was a cotter at 56 North Tolsta.

The next tenant was Kenneth Macleod from 67a North Tolsta and his son, Donald and daughter, Isabella became cottars at 56 North Tolsta. In due course the croft passed to his eldest son, John.

John Macleod passed 56 North Tolsta to his son, John and he passed the croft to his wife's niece, Dolina Campbell.

Dolina Campbell was married to John Clarkson and they had been living in Edinburgh. They settled at 56 North Tolsta and passed the croft to their daughter and her second husband, who was the nephew the former occupant, John Macleod. 

Cottars
Murdo Maciver married Margaret Macleod,4 North Tolsta and the couple became cottars at 56 North Tolsta. He inherited Margaret's parental croft at 4 North Tolsta.


Isabella Macleod married Donald Smith and initially the couple were cottars at 11 North Tolsta. They later became cottars at 56 North Tolsta and in 1922 the family moved to 11 New Tolsta.


Donald Macleod married Margaret Maciver and the couple were cottars at 56 North Tolsta. In 1928 the family built a house at 79 Lochside and settled there.
