24b Tolastadh bho Thuath

Murdo Smith inherited the cottars house at  24 North Tolsta and renamed it 24b North Tolsta.

Murdo married Jessie Graham and they had two children. After Jessie's death he married Jessie Maciver, with whom he had four children. The house passed to Murdo's son, Angus

It is worth noting that there is a bit of a grey area around the numbering for a while: with it being called both 24 and 24b. While the house will be referred to as 24b from the moment it passed to Murdo Smith on this site. The confusion in records should be borne in mind when dealing with other sources.

By the time the house passed to Angus the local Postman had 24b North Tolsta on the village map, so it is clear it was being used by the occupants as a postal address at this time. The house is on the opposite side of the road from the the two houses associated with  24 North Tolsta.

The house was formerly a Blackhouse but was renovated.

Angus Smith married a Tolsta woman and the couple had three children.
