John (born 1837) was the son of Angus Macarthur and Isabella Macaulay, 13 Old Borrowston. In 1850 the family moved to 2a Borrowston and in 1851 they emigrated to Canada. They settled at Huron County, Ontario and John married Catherine Macinnes from Ontario.
