106854: Flora Paterson

Fionnghala Shomhairle Thormoid

Flora (born 1805) was the daughter of Samuel Paterson and Rachel Campbell of Old Borve.

Flora married John Morrison of Pol an Oir. Together they were to have at least nine children, living in Borve at a site later known as Tobhta Fhionnghala ni' Shomhairle. Following her husband’s death in 1850, Flora lived as a cottar. In the early 1850s the crofts in Borve were cleared for Borve Farm. Flora and most of her children emigrated to Australia on the HMS Royal Albert in 1855.
