Elizabeth (born 1855) was the daughter of John Hunter and Margaret Stevenson and a twin of  Mary. She was born in Gretna Green. Her father was a shepherd and the family moved around the country for work. In 1860 the family moved to the Isle of Lewis and settled at Tolsta Farm. In 1866 the family moved to Barvas Farm.

After her father's death Elizabeth did not move with the family to Stornoway and in 1881 was living in Shropshire.
