Margaret Ann (1827-1911) was the daughter of George Stevenson, Wellington, Shropshire.
In Coll, Isle of Lewis, in 1855, she married shepherd, John Hunter, formerly of Ledbeg, Assynt. That year they had twin daughters in Gretna Green. In 1860 the family moved to the Isle of Lewis and settled at Tolsta Farm where Helen and Walter were born.
In 1867 the family moved to Barvas Farm where their son, John was born.
Margaret Ann was widowed and in 1891 was working as a housekeeper and living in Bayhead with her daughter, Mary's family. In 1901 Margaret Ann is still living with the family in Cardross Street, Dennistoun
