Mary Jane (born 1880) was a daughter of John Morrison and Mary Mackenzie, 7 Keose. Her mother died in 1884 and the family moved to Smithy Cottage, Tarbert, Harris.
Mary Jane married Kenneth Allan Macaskill, Minchview, Tarbert. Mary Jane and Kenneth Allan emigrated Canada and when they were registering their names to immigration authorities they were misnamed as Mr & Mrs Kenneth Allan.
The couple settled at Medicine Hat, Alberta and they had a family all using the surname Allan. The first time the children heard the name Macaskill was at their father's funeral.
