Murchadh Iain Iain
Murdo (1895-1926) was a son of John Kennedy and Isabella Macleod, 4 Cromore. He went to the Nicholson Institute and from there to Glasgow University to study medicine.
He was called up at the beginning of the First World War and served in the Royal Garrison Artillery at the Ross Mountain Battery under service number 4365. He served in Mesopotamia which is now Iraq and was transferred to Gallipoli Turkey when the British Forces made the landing at the Dardanelles. His brother Alexander served in the Royal Navy on the HMS Implacable and was part of a landing part. The brothers met in the trenches.
Murdo is mentioned in Loyal Lewis: Roll of Honour 1914-1918.
After the War Murdo returned to his studies at Glasgow University but was in ill health and had to come home. On the 1921 Census Murdo is enumerated with a War Disability Pension.
He died in 1926 and is buried in Crossbost Cemetery.
