Mary (born 1837) was a daughter of Angus Macleod and Chirsty Macleod, 31 Valtos.

At Uig, on the last day of 1861, she married John Smith, 29 Valtos. Mary and John lived at 29 Valtos where they had Angus and Annabella. The family moved to Ullapool where Euphemia was born. The family moved again to Strathcanaird where five of their nine children were born.

The family returned to Uig in 1879 when John became teacher at Lochcroistean School. They later moved to Stornoway.
