John (born 1830) was the son of Murdo Macleod and Ann Murray of 9 Old Mid Borve.
In 1853 the family emigrated to Huron Township, Bruce County, Ontario. Once there he met and married Margaret Macfarlane. Margaret had emigrated from 52 North Tolsta in 1853.
