This croft came into existence in the late 1860s when a portion of the original 8 Achmore was taken for Mary Mackay, a widow from 7 Achmore. This portion has sometimes been referred to as 2/8 Achmore but because both crofts were known locally as 8 Achmore, we refer to it as '8 Achmore (split)'.
